Frequently Asked Questions
What happens when I press the button?
Your device connects you to a trained monitoring professional through two-way voice. They'll talk with you, see your location, and send emergency services or contact your family — whatever the situation needs.
Do I need a landline or Wi-Fi?
No. Both devices have built-in cellular service, so there's nothing to connect to a phone line or Wi-Fi.
How long does the battery last?
The In-Home System plugs into the wall, and its wearable help button runs about 5 years without charging. If the power goes out, the base unit keeps working on its backup battery for up to 27 hours. On-the-Go is charged on its cradle — with fall detection on, plan to charge it every night (about 1–2 hours), like a phone.
Can I wear it in the shower?
Yes. The In-Home help button and the Wall Help Button are made for the shower, which matters because the bathroom is one of the most common places falls happen. On-the-Go is water resistant for showers and rain, but should never be submerged.
How is this different from calling 911?
911 only works if you can reach a phone and speak. With 24 Rescue Alert, one press connects you to an agent who already has your address, medical notes and emergency contacts. They send help and call your family, even if you can't talk.
What happens if the agent can't hear me?
If there's no response, the agent follows your emergency plan: they send responders to your address (or your device's location with On-the-Go) and contact your family right away.
Does it work outside the house?
The In-Home System covers your home and yard, up to 600 feet from the base unit. On-the-Go works anywhere with cellular coverage across the country, with GPS so the agent knows where you are.
How does the device know I fell?
Fall detection is available on On-the-Go and on the Fall Detection Pendant for the In-Home System. Motion sensors recognize the sudden movement of a fall and automatically call the monitoring center. Fall detection doesn't catch every fall, so always press the button if you can.
Do I have to charge it?
The In-Home System plugs into the wall, and its help button never needs charging. On-the-Go needs a charge: set it on its cradle at night and it's ready in the morning. It tells you "Battery OK" or "Battery Low" when you check it.
Can I try it first?
Yes. Every new customer gets a 30-day risk-free trial. If it's not the right fit, call us within 30 days of receiving your device for a full refund, and we'll send a free return label.
Can I buy 24 Rescue Alert for a parent?
Yes. Many of our customers set up protection for a loved one. You can manage the account, and with the optional Caregiver App the family gets alerts and device updates on their phones.
